White Ribbon Relay

Event Date:
Friday, 28 November 2014
12pm
Masterton Library Square

Each year, the Wairarapa participates in White Ribbon Day activities, including holding a running relay race in Masterton.  Businesses, community organisations, families and individuals are invited to participate in this fun event which gains a great deal of publicity and media exposure to raise awareness of the campaign.  Men are particularly encouraged to take part as we know the vast majority of men do not condone violence towards women and children.  It is these men that are able to encourage others to seek help.The relay route is from Library Square, Queen St, Masterton (beside the Masterton library), south to Jackson St then returning back up Queen St to Library Square (approx 800m in total).

Teams of 4 will run in stages (approx 200m each):

1st stage:   Library Sq to Perry St;

2nd stage:  Perry St to Jackson St:

3rd stage:  Jackson St to Perry St;

            4th stage:  Perry St to Library Sq.

Teams are to meet at Library Square at 12.00pm with the Relay starting at 12.15pm.  Dress up in your organisation’s uniform/t-shirts etc, or create a ‘White Ribbon’ themed costume.

There are prizes for:

·       1st, 2nd and 3rd placed teams;

·       Best dressed team.

There are also goodie bags for the teams, information stalls, free sausage sizzle and spot prizes.  Help stop violence towards women by showing your support for White Ribbon 2014.
